How Green are you?

The car versus bike debate has been in the public eye for quite a while now, with the bike taking over Santiago more and more every single day. However there is a huge problem that becomes evident whenever a person that’s not used to ride a bike in the city, does exactly that. The problem is that the street is extremely unsafe for people that are no used to ride in it, and the bumpy roads, lack of signs, lack of cycle exclusive roads, and over all angry car drivers just contribute more to the problem. In my opinion the state has focused on architecture and city planning that’s very company, and middle class centric, by prioritizing car only roads. This is very negative for the bicycle users, who contribute to lower the carbon emissions, making life in the city a little bit better for everyone. Even with the risks I personally prefer to ride a bike whenever this is possible, this benefits the city in general and also lets me get in fit, something that’s actually not minor!
Besides from that I don’t do much “green” stuff, most of all I kind of recycle because of the system that we use in my building. This is about throwing the organic garbage through the shaft (a giant tube that has a door in every floor), and the boxes and glass trash (bottles) on a closet that the janitors recycle.

So I, don´t feel im truly green but I try to do more than your average joe
